American West Steamboat Company blends the past with the present in a variety of ways. When travelers step aboard the sternwheelers Queen of the West and Empress of the North, they step back in time to an era when the 'woosh-woosh' of steamboat paddlewheels serenaded shorelines throughout America. A desire to replicate the sternwheeler experience, which played such an important role in Alaska and Pacific Northwest history, led to the development of the Queen of the West and Empress of the North.
